This year was different for me. We had two shows of Buddy: The Buddy Holly scheduled as a sort of New Year’s Eve party. It was set up so that each of the casts (the show is double cast) could do one of the shows. However, my double had plans and so I was on for both shows. Since I do not go on until half way through Act 2, I timed my leaving the house so that I would arrive just prior to intermission. I was surprised to find that the first show had not even started when I got there! A quick little mental math made me realize that the second show would run through midnight. Oh Boy, indeed.
So, onward we plowed through. For a show that was a disaster the night before, I was shocked. I mean, there are definitely things that need to be worked out, but both casts ROCKED tonight. We had everyone up, dancing, singing, and overall having a great time. I did find that two shows is really pushing it on my voice for this one. And by the time we are done, I am WHIPPED. I took a 5 hour energy shot before act 2 of the second show to make it through. But, everyone seemed to have a great time…and that is what is important.
And…man, I had a blast tonight. It is fun to have people screaming for you.
OK, I am going to call this my last post for 2013 (even though its already 2014!) But when you are in a show that doesn’t go down until almost 1am, you do what you have to. I hope to have a travel year in review posted soon as well as goals and plans (or dare I say resolutions!) for 2014. Thanks to all of you who may be reading. I love all of you!
Happy New Year!
